Ami D. Acharya
M.D., MPH., FPMRS, FACOG
Dr. Ami Acharya is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with advanced certification in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. She has been part of Generations OB/GYN since 2006 and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine.
Her professional interests include pelvic floor disorders, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and global women’s health.
Dr. Acharya earned her medical degree from the University of Bombay and completed a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health at Harvard University before completing her OB/GYN residency through Michigan State University where she was awarded Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Award, Presented by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. She is involved in a Global Health Initiative program addressing pelvic floor dysfunction in the Dominican Republic—combining surgical care with education, training, and research.
Dr. Acharya has received multiple honors for her teaching, including the Lee Buxton Teaching Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education and Excellence in gynecological surgery teaching award.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Acharya is passionate about traveling the world and enjoys experimenting with global cuisines in her kitchen.
