Comprehensive Well-Woman Care

Our well-woman care services are designed to promote overall health and wellness through routine exams, preventative screenings, and personalized guidance.

Here’s a closer look at what we offer:

Annual Well-Woman Exams

Your annual exam is a cornerstone of preventative care, tailored to your unique needs. During this visit, we may:

  • Review your medical history and discuss any health concerns.
  • Perform a breast exam to check for lumps or abnormalities, if appropriate.
  • Conduct a pelvic exam to assess your reproductive health, often recommended based on age, symptoms, or risk factors.
  • Collect a pap smear to screen for cervical cancer, depending on your screening schedule.

We also provide personalized guidance on lifestyle, nutrition, and additional screenings based on your age, symptoms, and overall health goals.

STD Testing & Counseling

Your sexual health is an important part of your overall wellness. We offer:

  • Testing for common sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV.
  • Counseling to help you understand your results and treatment options.
  • Guidance on safe practices and preventative measures.

Cervical Cancer Screening & Protection

We offer comprehensive cervical cancer screening and prevention services, including:

  • Pap smears to detect abnormal cells in the cervix.
  • HPV testing to identify high-risk strains of the virus.
  • Provide HPV vaccinations to protect against cervical cancer.
  • Follow-up care for abnormal results, including colposcopy and LEEP procedures when necessary.

Breast Cancer Screening

Early detection is key to successful treatment. Our breast cancer screening services include:

  • Clinical breast exams during your visit.
  • Referrals for mammograms and breast ultrasounds.
  • Enhanced screening options for high-risk patients, including genetic testing for inherited cancer risks.

Genetic Testing

We provide genetic testing services to help identify inherited risks for conditions like breast and ovarian cancer. Our team will:

  • Evaluate your family history to determine if testing is appropriate.
  • Provide referrals for genetic counseling and testing.
  • Help you understand your results and create a personalized care plan.

Bone Density Screenings

As you age, maintaining bone health becomes increasingly important. We offer:

  • Referrals for DEXA scans to assess bone density.
  • Lifestyle and dietary recommendations to support bone health.
  • Medications to prevent or treat osteoporosis and reduce the risk of fractures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in a well-woman exam?

A well-woman exam includes health screenings tailored to your age and medical history. These screenings may include a breast exam, pelvic exam, pap smear, and tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Depending on your individual needs, we may recommend mammograms, bone density scans, and genetic testing to ensure comprehensive care.

Pap smear frequency depends on your age and health history. Generally, most women aged 21-65 should have a pap smear every 3-5 years, depending on whether HPV testing is included. Some women will need more frequent pap smears based on their prior history. We’ll help you determine the right schedule for you.

Most women should begin annual mammograms at age 40, but this may vary based on your family history and risk factors. We’ll help you determine the right schedule for you.

If your pap smear results are abnormal, we’ll guide you through the next steps, which may include additional testing like colposcopy or LEEP to evaluate and treat any issues.

Genetic testing can identify inherited risks for conditions like breast and ovarian cancer, allowing us to create a personalized care plan to monitor and reduce your risk.

Bone density screenings help detect osteoporosis early, allowing us to recommend lifestyle changes or treatments to protect your bones and prevent fractures as you age.
