How can I request my test results?

Please check your MyChart messages first for any updates. If you need to receive your test results, call (203) 248-4461. We appreciate your patience and will get your results to you as soon as possible!

Prescription refills are handled Monday through Friday during office hours. If your prescription is running low, please don’t wait until the weekend, the last day of your prescription, or until you’re completely out. To request a refill, call (203) 248-4461 and we’ll process your request as soon as possible. If your pharmacy offers e-prescription services, please let us know.

Pregnancy and Family Planning

What should I do if I’m planning to become pregnant?

If you’re planning to become pregnant, we encourage you to schedule a pre-pregnancy checkup. During this visit, we’ll perform a physical exam, review your medical, family, and obstetrical history, discuss any medications you’re currently taking, and help you plan a healthy diet and lifestyle to prepare for pregnancy.

Many couples conceive within one year of having regular unprotected sex after stopping birth control. However, if you’re having trouble conceiving, we recommend a fertility evaluation for you and your partner. Please don’t hesitate to call us—we’re here to help and look forward to supporting you on your journey.

Congratulations! Please call your doctor as soon as you find out you’re pregnant. The first few weeks of pregnancy are crucial for healthy child development. Your doctor will schedule your initial prenatal visit for 6-10 weeks into your pregnancy. During this visit, we’ll answer any questions you have and provide detailed information to help ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby.

All deliveries are performed at Yale New Haven Hospital’s York Street Campus, where you’ll have access to state-of-the-art facilities and expert care.

During your first prenatal visit, your doctor will confirm your pregnancy, review your medical history, perform any necessary tests, and discuss your care plan for a healthy pregnancy.

Menopause and Hormonal Health

How do I know if I’m in menopause?

Menopause typically occurs around age 50 and is diagnosed after you have not had a menstrual period for one year. The time leading up to menopause, called perimenopause, can begin many years earlier, with the most symptoms often occurring in the last one to two years. Common symptoms of menopause include emotional changes, headaches, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, itching, infections, pain, irregular periods, loss of sexual interest, and sleep disturbances. Every woman experiences menopause differently. If you have questions, concerns, or are experiencing symptoms, we encourage you to call your doctor to schedule an appointment.

Common menopausal symptoms include vaginal dryness, hot flashes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and changes in sexual interest. If you’re experiencing any of these, please call your doctor to discuss treatment options and schedule an appointment.

Hot flashes can often be managed with lifestyle changes, hormone therapy, or non-hormonal treatments like dietary supplements or medications. Your doctor can help you determine the best approach for your needs.

Gynecologic Health and Screenings

What should I do if I’m experiencing abnormal bleeding?

Abnormal bleeding can include long, heavy, or painful periods, as well as spotting or bleeding between periods. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, please call your doctor and schedule an appointment.

If your pap smear results are abnormal, your doctor will guide you through the next steps, which may include additional testing like colposcopy or LEEP to evaluate and treat any issues.

It’s recommended to schedule a well-woman exam annually prior to age 65 and every 2 years after age 65. These exams include health screenings tailored to your age and medical history, such as breast exams, pelvic exams, and pap smears.

Minimally invasive surgeries, such as laparoscopic and robotic-assisted procedures, offer shorter recovery times, less pain, and smaller scars compared to traditional surgery.

A saline sonohysterogram is a specialized ultrasound that uses saline to evaluate the uterine cavity. It’s often used to diagnose polyps, fibroids, or scarring and guide treatment decisions.

Pelvic and Vaginal Health

What should I do if I’m experiencing pelvic pain?

Pelvic pain can include pain during or after sex, vaginal discharge, or pain in your abdomen. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact your doctor to schedule an evaluation.

Vaginal problems can include unusual discharge, warts, ulcers, pain, or itching. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, please call your doctor and schedule an appointment for further evaluation and care.

Urinary incontinence can be caused by weakened pelvic floor muscles, hormonal changes, or other factors. If you’re experiencing symptoms, contact your doctor to discuss treatment options, which may include pelvic floor therapy, medications, or surgery.

Birth Control and Family Planning

What should I do if I have questions about birth control options?

Schedule a consultation with your doctor to discuss your lifestyle, health history, and preferences. They can help you choose the best birth control method for your needs, whether hormonal or non-hormonal.
