Dr. Ami Acharya
M.D., MPH., URPS, FACOG
Dr. Ami Acharya is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with advanced certification in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. She has been part of Generations OB/GYN since 2006 and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine.
Her professional interests include pelvic floor disorders, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and global women’s health.
Dr. Acharya earned her medical degree from the University of Bombay and completed a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health at Harvard University before completing her OB/GYN residency through Michigan State University where she was awarded Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Award, Presented by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. She is involved in a Global Health Initiative program addressing pelvic floor dysfunction in the Dominican Republic—combining surgical care with education, training, and research.
Dr. Acharya has received multiple honors for her teaching, including the Lee Buxton Teaching Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education and Excellence in gynecological surgery teaching award.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Acharya is passionate about traveling the world and enjoys experimenting with global cuisines in her kitchen.

Dr. Maria Asis
M.D., FACOG
Dr. Maria Asis is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist with advanced certifications in Menopause and Culinary medicine. She attended Tufts University, graduating magna cum laude in biology. She went on to Tufts Medical School and residency training at New York Hospital – Cornell Medical center. Upon graduation in 1993, she returned to New Haven to join her father, Dr. Jose Asis, in private practice at Asis Medical Association and continued on to Generations after the merge of Asis Medical and OBGYN of North Haven.
Dr. Asis has a special interest in reproductive endocrinology, menopause and lifestyle medicine. She is both a certified menopause specialist and a culinary medicine specialist. She is passionate about the connection between nutrition, lifestyle and women’s health. She brings her expertise to the patients, and the community with outreach projects in high schools, community programs and lectures at large.
Dr. Asis’s excellence in teaching has been recognized with the Lee Buxton Award for Medical Student Teaching (2017), and the Stanley Lavietes Award for Resident Teaching (2022).
Born in Córdoba, Argentina, Dr. Asis is fluent in both English and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, spending time with her husband and three boys.

Dr. Kristen Aversa
M.D., FACOG
A Yalie through and through- Dr. Aversa attended Yale University where she earned a BA in Psychology. She then graduated from the Yale School of Medicine and went on to her OB-GYN residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Since 2003, Dr. Aversa has loved being in private practice in the greater New Haven area. She received the Yale Medical School Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology Award, the Patients’ Choice Award in 2010 and 2011, Compassionate Doctor Award in 2011 and the Hope After Loss Compassionate Care Award in 2021. Dr. Aversa is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine. She is a Clinical Instructor at Yale New Haven Hospital, served on the Yale New Haven Hospital Medical Board for 2 years, and she heads the Ultrasound Division at Generations Ob-Gyn.
In addition to her love for general obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Aversa’s particular interests include menopause, contraception, PCOS, infertility workup, and surgical labiaplasty. First and foremost, however, she is very passionate about building long-term relationships with her patients and helping them through every phase of their reproductive lives.
When not at work, Dr. Aversa loves to spend time with her husband and 6 kids in their big, blended family. She enjoys running, hiking, and boating and has become an avid gardener. She especially loves cooking large dinners for her family and friends.
Dr. Aversa is still accepting new patients in all 4 locations at Generations Ob-Gyn.

Dr. Sean Flaherty
M.D., Ph.D., FACOG
Dr. Sean Flaherty, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.O.G. graduated from Tufts University and pursued his graduate education at the University of Vermont, where a Ph.D was conferred upon him in 1997 from the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. He simultaneously acquired his M.D in 1999 from the University of Vermont’s School of Medicine.
He has received a number of awards and honors, such as: Yale University School of Medicine excellence in teaching award in 2007; Yale University School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Top Ten Resident Educators and Top Ten Medical School Educators, both in 2006. He received the AAGL Laparoscopic Award in 2003, as well as, the SLS Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Surgeon Award in 2003, among many others.
Dr. Flaherty has Professional Memberships in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy, American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine, Connecticut State Medical Society, New Haven Obstetrics and Gynecology Society as Secretary and Treasurer, and Minimally Invasive Robotic Association. He also holds current positions at Yale New Haven Hospital Department of Women and Children, and is on the Clinical Quality Assurance Review Board. Dr. Flaherty is also diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
He has publications in the National Academy of Sciences and has spoken at the Minimally Invasive Robotic Association Conference, among many others.

Dr. Beth Maloy
M.D., FACOG
Dr. Maloy graduated with honors from Smith College in 1987 with degrees in biochemistry and political science. She attended University of Connecticut School of Medicine, graduating in 1991. She went on to complete a residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1995. She joined Obstetrics and Gynecology of North Haven in 1995 and was one of the founding members of Generations Ob/Gyn in 2012 with the merger of Ob/Gyn of North Haven and Asis Medical Associates.
Dr Maloy is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and maintains annual recertification. She is fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She maintains certification in the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. She is a member of the New Haven Obstetrical Society and New Haven Medical Society. In addition to her clinical practice, she serves as an attending physician at Yale New Haven Hospital and holds an appointment as a clinical instructor at Yale University School of Medicine. She enjoys teaching medical students and residents in the office, on labor and birth, and in the operating room.
Dr Maloy provides care in both obstetrics and gynecology with a special interest in generational care from adolescence through perimenopause and menopause.
Outside medicine, Dr Maloy enjoys spending time with her husband and two adult children. She also enjoys traveling, antiquing and home renovation.

Dr. Sindhuja Ranganathan
DO, FACOG
Dr. Sindhuja Ranganathan, DO, received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University where she studied Psychology and Global Health. She received her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency training at the University of Connecticut.
Generations ObGyn was fortunate to add Dr. Ranganathan to our team in 2023. Her career passions include family planning services, minimally invasive surgery and robotic assisted procedures. She is dedicated to providing full-spectrum, compassionate care and values building long term relationships with her patients through all stages of their reproductive health journeys. She is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In 2025, Dr. Ranganathan was honored with The Resident Teaching Excellence Award for her dedication to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of physicians.

Dr. Nina Rivera
M.D., M.Ed., IBCLC, FACOG
Dr. Nina Rivera is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with certification in lactation. She received her undergraduate degree from University of Connecticut. After teaching English in our New Haven community, she turned to medicine. She graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She has received the Society of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident Award, Cleveland Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Mortimer Highest CREOG Award, and University of Connecticut Lyman Stowe Award.
Born and raised in Hartford, she enthusiastically returned to Connecticut to join the physician team at Generations OB/GYN in 2020. She provides full-scope Obstetric and Gynecologic health care. Her special interests include adolescent gynecology, lactation medicine, patient-centered pregnancy care, family planning, PCOS and menopause management. She loves meeting new patients, building trusting relationships and helping all patients achieve their desired health outcomes.
Dr. Rivera continues to pursue her passion for teaching and service to the community, volunteering as a preceptor for Yale’s student run HAVEN Free Clinic. Outside of her clinical roles, she loves spending time with her community of close family and friends. She enjoys supporting local theater, music and art; feasting on delicious foods from around the globe; and traveling to beautiful places near and far.
