Our urogynecology services are designed to address a wide range of pelvic floor disorders with advanced diagnostic tools and personalized treatment plans.

Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence is a common condition that can affect your daily life. We provide:

  • Comprehensive Evaluations: Using bladder diaries, urodynamic testing, and physical exams to determine the type and cause of incontinence.
  • Non-Surgical Treatments: Including pelvic floor exercises, bladder training, and medications to improve bladder control.
  • Minimally Invasive Procedures: We offer advanced surgical options to provide long-term relief for urinary incontinence.

Overactive Bladder (OAB)

OAB can cause frequent, urgent urination and disrupt your daily routine. We offer:

  • Behavioral Therapies: Including bladder training and dietary modifications to reduce symptoms.
  • Medications: To relax the bladder muscles and improve control.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the pelvic organs drop from their normal position, causing discomfort and pressure. We offer:

  • Thorough Assessments: Using pelvic exams and imaging to evaluate the severity of prolapse.
  • Pessary Fittings: A non-surgical option to support the pelvic organs and relieve symptoms.
  • Surgical Repairs: Including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures to restore pelvic anatomy and function.

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Pelvic floor dysfunction can lead to pain, pressure, and difficulty with urination or bowel movements. We provide:

  • Physical Therapy Referrals: Specialized exercises to strengthen and relax pelvic floor muscles.
  • Biofeedback Therapy: To improve muscle coordination and control.
  • Surgical Options: For severe cases requiring structural repair or reconstruction.

Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections

Frequent UTIs can be frustrating and disruptive. We provide:

  • Diagnostic Testing: To identify underlying causes, such as bladder dysfunction or anatomical abnormalities.
  • Preventative Strategies: Including lifestyle modifications, probiotics, and low-dose antibiotics when appropriate.
UROGYNECOLOGY FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a urogynecologist?

A urogynecologist is a specialist trained in diagnosing and treating pelvic floor disorders, including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and overactive bladder.

Multiple health factors can put you at risk for urinary incontinence. Depending on the type of urine leakage you have, many personal factors may lead to your symptoms. Some risk factors for incontinence include: older age, postmenopausal status, increased weight, history of vaginal deliveries, diets high in caffeine, medical conditions like diabetes, weakened pelvic floor muscles, certain medications, smoking and alcohol use. A thorough evaluation can help determine the cause and tailor treatment that is right for you.

Treatment options include non-surgical methods like pessaries and pelvic floor exercises, as well as surgical repairs for more severe cases. We’ll work with you to find the best solution.

Symptoms include frequent urination, sudden urges to urinate, and waking up multiple times at night to urinate. These symptoms can often be managed with lifestyle changes, medications, or advanced therapies.

If you experience frequent UTIs (three or more in a year), it’s important to see a specialist to identify underlying causes and develop a prevention plan.

Robotic-assisted surgery offers greater precision, smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery compared to traditional surgery. It’s an excellent option for complex pelvic floor conditions.
