Dr. Ami Acharya received her medical degree from T.N. Medical College, Bombay University, India, in January of 1997.

With the objective of complementing her medical training with education in public health policy, she left India in June of 1998 to come to the United States. She earned a Masters degree in Public Health at Harvard University in Boston, MA in June of 1999 and completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA in 2001, actively participating in clinical and Public health research. She went on to complete a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Grand Rapids Medical Education & Research Center (MERC)/ Michigan State University in July 2005.

Dr. Acharya joined Asis Medical Associates (which merged with Obstetrics & Gynecology of North Haven to become Generations Ob/Gyn in July 2012), to practice general obstetrics and gynecology in October 2006. Her keen interest in the management of pelvic organ prolapse and female incontinence, as well as advanced laparoscopy including robotic surgery, led her to attain board certification in the subspecialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in June 2015.

Dr. Acharya has received a number of honors and awards, including: the SLS Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Surgeon Award in 2005 and the Yale University School of Medicine excellence in gynecological surgery teaching award in 2014, among many others.

Dr. Acharya is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in General Ob/Gyn, as well as, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the New Haven Obstetrical Society.
